KAMIAH The Kamiah Chapter of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is kicking off a series of fund-raising activities to fund travel to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas, June 27-30. At the conference students will compete in a variety of health-related competitions and workshops.
Twelve members of the Kamiah Chapter earned the right to compete at the conference by placing in the top five at the recently-completed Idaho Leadership Conference held in Boise. This is the third consecutive year Kamiah students have medaled at the state competition.
“Kamiah HOSA Chapter has raised more than $7,000 dollars so far,” said chapter advisor Terry Law, and estimated the students will need to raise an additional $7,500 to fund the excursion. Fund-raising activities are under way with the group already holding two baked food sales, a 50/50 raffle at a high school track meet and the annual color run complete with a photo booth.
Impromptu fund-raisers will continue in early June, with a car wash and baked foods sale tentatively scheduled June 9. Fund-raising efforts conclude June 22 when the group holds a taco bar that serves as the official send-off for the competitors. At the conclusion of the meal, quilt winners will be announced.
Fund-raisers are being publicized through posters and flyers as well as posted on the Kamiah HOSA Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/KamiahHOSAchapter/.
