RIGGINS The 2018 Big Water Blowout River Festival is this Saturday June 2 on the Salmon River. The Blowout is an action-packed family fun event with Riggins outfitters offering discounted raft trips from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get your thrill-seeking in and come paddle huge rapids with experienced guides and enjoy the magnificent scenery and wildlife in the second deepest river gorge in North America. The Dutch Oven Cookoff and dinner in the park will begin about 4:00 followed by dancing for everyone. Everyone is invited to get out and have fun.
Ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Manning Crevice Bridge is this coming Tuesday, June 5, on the bridge at 1 p.m. MT. The public is invited to attend the ceremony 14 miles east of Riggins on the Salmon River Road; parking will be at turnouts adjacent to the project and at the Jimmy and Ann Foy Elkhorn Ranch one mile upstream from the bridge. This is an excellent opportunity to hear more about the completed project, learn about the history of the area from a local historian, and celebrate the completion of the new Manning Crevice Bridge. Special thanks to the Western Federal Lands Highway Division and its project partners, the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Idaho County, and the City of Riggins as well as the contractor, Reed Steel & Construction, Inc.
