Idaho County voters hit the polls Tuesday night, Nov. 6, voting nay on two advisory votes, and as well against approving to form a firefighting taxing district.
With 28 of 28 precincts reporting, election results are unofficial until canvassed by the Idaho County Commission at its Nov. 13 meeting.
In two advisory votes proposed by the Idaho County Commission, voters decided against adding more wilderness to Idaho County, 5,046 to 1,948; and against adding more wild and scenic segments in Idaho County, 4,854 to 2,097.
For the Ridge Runner Fire Department proposal to create a taxing district, patrons soundly opposed the measure 311 to 67.
Idaho County elected offices were uncontested, but (for bragging rights) here's how the totals stacked up:
- Skip Brandt, Dist. 1 County Commissioner: 5,582
- Denis Duman, Dist. 3, County Commissioner: 5,900
- Kathy Ackerman, County Clerk: 6,068
- Abbie Hudson, County Treasurer: 6,037
- James Zehner, County Assessor: 6,140
- Cody Funke, County Coroner: 6,072
On statewide measures, county voters voted against Proposition 1 (horse racing) and Proposition 2.
Unofficial county voter turnout was 70.29 percent with 7,130 ballots cast out of 10,143 total registered voters.
