GRANGEVILLE A 15-year-old male has been charged in connection with an Aug. 27 bomb threat hoax at Grangeville High School.
However, no further information will be available as the records are not public due to the suspect being a juvenile.
The Idaho County Free Press filed a request last week with the district court office in Grangeville to open the record, which was denied Oct. 31. In the denial, Magistrate Judge Jeff Payne cited Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32(g)(9)(B), which provides the specifics for exempting juvenile court records exempt from disclosure.
The Grangeville Police Department investigated the August incident at the start of the first full week of school. GPD, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police responded following an 11:55 a.m. report by school staff that a note was found stating there was a bomb on campus. A subsequent search resulted with no explosive devices located.
In its investigation, GPD identified a juvenile who was interviewed and taken into custody.
Several hoax bomb threats have been perpetrated at GHS, with the one prior in 2017, one in 2014, two in 2013 and one each in 2010 and 2008. No arrests have been made in these cases.
