Walking For Diabetes Awareness

A good day for a brisk walk: Approximately 60 people participated last Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Walk with Kate event in Cottonwood. Prairie High School student Kate Lustig hosted the diabetes awareness event that went from Prairie Elementary School to the St. Mary’s Clinic where participants conducted a free health screening. Lustig organized the event (featured in the Oct. 31 issue) as part of her senior project, raising $700.
Overall, the project has raised $5,129 that will go toward care packages to be given to newly diagnosed diabetic children.
