— All the puzzle pieces fit together for Dave and Dee Sanchez to take over the pastorate of Grangeville Christian Church.

The Sanchez family arrived in August and are settling into life in Grangeville.

“We appreciate the path laid before us by Pastor Harold and Linda Gott,” Dave said.

Dave grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and then attended post-secondary education at Wichita State and then Ozark Christian in Joplin, Mo., majoring in Biblical literature. Following this, he began ministry work in Southeast Kansas in 1989 where he remained until 2011.

Dee grew up in Scotland, studied hotel management, then came to the U.S. (Washington, D.C. area) in 2001 to nanny. A mutual friend – actually a former youth group member of Dave’s, now in the military – introduced the couple.

“We were married after five dates,” smiled Dee.

Dave had fallen in love with Idaho while previously visiting the state and wondered if the Lord might open a door to serve in Idaho one day, he said.

The call came in 2011 and the family went to Heyburn.

“We really enjoyed our time there,” they said. “It was a great place to serve.”

About a year ago, a friend told the Sanchezes that the pastor in Grangeville would be retiring in a year’s time and wondered if they may like to check out the church.

“The Lord opened that door with green lights all the way,” Dave smiled.

In August, the family arrived in Grangeville. The Sanchezes have three sons: Reuben, 11; Simeon, 10; and Titus, 8.

“We enjoy the rural area for sure, and feel it’s a great place, with a very good school, to raise our sons,” Dave emphasized.

The entire family enjoys the outdoors and sports, and Dave likes to hunt and fish, especially.

Dave explained he especially has a passion for youth, though he knows in small areas a pastor will “wear a lot of hats.”

“The main thing we want to do here is be obedient and glorify God,” the couple agreed. “And, in that process, grow the next generation of Christians.”

Dave said he “loves to hear crying babies and hear kids running and playing,” because “that’s our future.”

Dee added she knows sometimes people feel the need to “get cleaned up” before they come to church.

“He loves us as we are – he wants us to come in messy and just be here,” she said.
