Yes Prop 2: No one should be denied care

Letters to the Editor

The Idaho Freedom Foundation is a sham organization with a bogus, misleading name. If it, and its founders, truly cared about protecting and supporting freedom, it would endorse Proposition 2 (Medicaid Expansion) so 62,000 uninsured Idahoans (the working poor) could be freed from the oppressive burden of worry and financial stress that comes with wanting, but not having, any medical safety net for themselves and families.

No one is this country or state should be denied basic medical care. IFF’s dissenting views are certainly detached from the truth of how Medicaid Expansion would benefit all Idahoans by:  1) helping the 62,000 Idahoans achieve healthier, more productive lives; 2) eliminating approximately $34 million in annual property and state taxes currently expended on indigent care; 3) stabilizing our vital, rural hospitals through the significant reduction of bad debt and charity care expenses. (In 2017, both Syringa and St. Mary’s hospitals/clinics lost nearly one million dollars by providing urgent medical care to the uninsured.)

A majority of polled Idahoans have indicated a clear preference for the provisions of Proposition 2. The Idaho Freedom Foundation seems to consist of uppity folks who have great disdain for the poor and little respect for citizens’ opinions. Please vote yes on Proposition 2.
