Charges against juvenile pending in GHS bomb hoax

15-year-old male was arrested for false report

— Charges are pending review against an unidentified juvenile alleged to have perpetrated a bomb threat hoax at Grangeville High School last week.

Due to the suspect being a juvenile, information is not public record at this stage in the process. The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office log listed a 15-year-old male was arrested for false report of explosives in a public place.

The incident was reported last Tuesday, Aug. 27, at approximately 11:55 a.m., according to a Grangeville Police Department press release. GPD, along with the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police, responded to the school following report by staff that a note was found stating that there was a bomb on the campus.

A search of the high school was conducted by officers and no explosive devices were located.

During the search, GPD conducted an investigation and identified a juvenile believed to be involved who was subsequently taken into custody.

Assisting on scene included response by the Grangeville Volunteer Fire Department and Syringa Ambulance.

GPD chief Morgan Drew extended the department’s thanks to those agencies that assisted, along with staff from GHS and Mountain View School District 244, and all of the GHS students and parents for their understand and support during the incident.
