Idaho State Police is seeking the public’s help in locating two unidentified persons to assist its investigation of single-vehicle fatality accident at Riggins last year.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the April 21, 2018, rollover crash near Riggins during Jet Boat Race weekend that claimed the life of Kaitlyn J. Thayer, 17, from McCall. According to Free Press news coverage, who was driving at the time of the crash was undetermined.

Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) personnel responded to the crash and conducted the initial investigation. ISP has since partnered with ICSO to aid in the investigation.

According to ISP, this investigation has revealed emergency medical service personnel were able to recover Thayer’s body from the vehicle with the assistance of an unidentified bystander, described as a male in his early 20s with dark brown hair and was approximately 6’ to 6’2” tall. The male had a female companion, also in her early 20s with shoulder-length light brown hair who was approximately 5’6” to 5’7” tall.

Investigators have been unable to locate these individuals and ISP stated they may have information that will greatly assist this investigation. ISP is asking for the public’s help in locating these two people.

Those with any information as to their identities or have information that may be pertinent to this investigation are asked to contact ISP Detective Jacob Schwecke at (208)799-5020.
