Doc Denny timber sale work continues

Visitors to the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests should be prepared for a closure in effect on part of Cove Road (Forest Service road 279), located on the Salmon River Ranger District, due to work on the Doc Denny 2 timber sale. The road will be closed weekdays, Monday through Friday, and open on weekends. The combined forests issued an order Wednesday, Jan. 2, closing part of the road from mile 16 to just past mile 20.

Organizations - Jan. 9, 2019

Dick Seay opened the Dec. 17 meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and Shirley Crane offered the prayer. Phyllis Gilmore was the winner of the free dinner drawing. 57 meals were served at the site and 41 hot meals were home delivered. Shirley Crane shared a joke with the group. Pinochle Winners: Dick Seay, first with 4,250 and Dolores Kindall, second with 3,080.

Multiple charges follow New Year’s bar fights

Reports of gunfire and fisticuffs ended with one man hospitalized for head wounds, and several others arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in the aftermath of two unrelated bar fights reported in Elk City and Cottonwood on New Year’s Eve.
