Free detectors in Kooskia, Stites for fire safety effort

The American Red Cross, Kooskia and Stites fire departments are holding a Sound the Alarm home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event. Red Cross volunteers and local partners will be canvassing neighborhoods, installing free smoke alarms, replacing batteries in existing alarms and helping families create escape plans.

Fifteen participating in ICSO Cadet Program

Fifteen area high school students are participating in the 2017-18 Idaho County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Program. Each year students from Grangeville, Cottonwood, Riggins, Kooskia and Kamiah high schools are invited to participate in the program.

Cross Country Cowboy Fellowship is Feb. 24

Cross Country Cowboy Fellowship will be meeting Saturday, Feb. 24, 6 p.m., in the Porter’s fellowship barn at 43 Whitetail Drive just south of Grangeville. There will be a soup social for the potluck. Bring a favorite soup or side dish and bring a friend. Call 208-983-0112.

If you see something, say something, says GPD Drew

“If you see something, say something in a timely manner,” advised Chief Morgan Drew, Grangeville Police Department. “People are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” Drew reminded residents that officers are on duty every day throughout the year to respond to reports of suspicious and criminal activity, and other citizen concerns. This includes holidays, he added, as the office did have a recent comment from a resident that he didn’t contact the office on a matter as he thought GPD would be closed.
