Former commissioner Harry Owens dies in crash into Clearwater

Funeral service on Saturday, May 20

Funeral services are later this week for Harry E. Owens who died last week in a vehicle crash into the Clearwater River. Owens, 89, of Grangeville, was a former Idaho County Commissioner who served five terms (1987-2002) on the board.

Ronnie and Kendra Chandler of Keuterville, Idaho, are the parents of a baby boy. Trey Joseph Chandler was born Saturday, April 22, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood, Idaho. He weighed seven pounds, six ounces, and was 20 inches long. He joins a big brother, Gunner, 20 months old.

Chuck and Kerry Uhlenkott of Cottonwood announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristina, to Joe Gervais of Seattle, Wash. She is currently an intensive care unit nurse employed by Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She began her ICU nursing career at Georgetown University Medical Hospital in Washington, D.C. after receiving her bachelor of science nursing degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville. For the past four years she has been a travel nurse in various cities including Seattle.

Riener to celebrate 100th birthday

Andrew Riener will celebrates his 100th birthday Saturday, April 15. Andrew Joseph Riener was born Feb. 9, 1917, to Frank and Mary Anne “Jenny” Stubbers Riener on a farm near Greencreek, Idaho, and grew up on a farm near Ferdinand, Idaho. Both farms were on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. He attended a one-room schoolhouse a mile and a half from his home.

Vivienne Genevieve Murdock was born to parents Matthew and Jenna Murdock at Syringa Hospital in Grangeville on March 7, 2017 at 6:36 in the morning. She weighed nine pounds, seven ounces and was 21 inches long. She joins her four older siblings, Zachary Stephen (age 7), Emma Kathleen (age 5), Brendan Matthew (age 3) and Gwendolyn Elise (age 1). Her grandparents are Stephen and Kathleen Murdock of Veradale, Wash., and Joyce Goeckner and the late Wayne Goeckner of Ferdinand. Her great grandmother is Joan Cools of Colbert, Wash.

Logan Michael Barger was born on March 2, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood, Idaho, to parents Rodney and Lauren Barger of Grangeville, Idaho. He was 7 pounds and 10 ounces, and was 21.5 inches long.
