Grangeville American Legion Auxiliary to meet April 14

Grangeville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 37 will hold its meeting Saturday, April 14, starting at noon with a potluck lunch followed by a business meeting to include installation of new officers. Idaho County Historical Society will be host to Don and Charlotte DeArmond who were awarded Century Farm status, to speak on “100 Years of Farming and Ranching.” This is set for the second Tuesday of the month, April 10, noon, in the basement of the Bicentennial Historical Museum. All are invited; to become a member, dues are $5 a year.

Central Idaho Art Association (CIAA) will be host to its 51st Annual Spring Show May 3-5. This year a new venue for the show, Super Motel Grangeville. The show will be held in the motel entry conference room.

Clearwater Meal Center luncheon set for today

The Clearwater Meal Center’s next luncheon is set for today, Wednesday, April 4, noon. Turkey dinner will be served. Meals are served the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Clearwater Baptist Church. No charge for the luncheon, $5 donation appreciated when possible. All are welcome. Call 926-7776.

Earth Day participants sought for Kamiah

A plan to celebrate Earth Day in Kamiah is in the works for Friday, April 20, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Activities for children, such as creating art from recycled materials, games or displays about forests, soils, the hidden costs of water, gardening and composting and face-painting will be offered. The city council supports the event and approved closing a block of 5th Street between Main and Idaho streets.

CVES kindergarten registration set

Registration for children entering kindergarten at Clearwater Valley Elementary School in Kooskia this fall will be held Wednesday, April 25. Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2018. A 20-minute informal evaluation is part of the registration process. Call CVES at 208-926-4311 to reserve an appointment for your child. Bring child, certified birth certificate and record of immunizations to the scheduled appointment time.

Dance set for Orofino this Sunday, April 8

A country dance is set for the Orofino VFW Hall Sunday, April 8, 1-4 p.m. Potluck at 4 p.m.; main dish provided, bring a side to share. Cost is $5 and will feature the Mike Jenkins and Friends Band. Subsequent dances will continue the first Sunday of the month.

‘Quiplash Night’ set for March 31 in Kamiah

Upriver Youth Leadership Council (UYLC) is hosting a free Quiplash Night on Saturday, March 31, 6 to 8 p.m. Grades 5th-7th are welcome to come participate from 6 to 7 p.m., and grades 8th-12th are welcomed to come from 7 to 8 p.m. This event will be held at the UYLC Office, 413 Main Street, Kamiah. This event requires cell phones or tablets which have access to the Internet.

Hospice volunteer training sessions set

Syringa Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Hospice is conducting a two-day training program for mature and caring individuals who desire to volunteer with the only hospice in this area. Hospice serves 12 communities in Idaho and Lewis counties; volunteers from all local communities are welcome.

Elks burger night is this Friday, March 30

The Grangeville Elks is having its monthly last Friday Burger Night this Friday, March 30. Due to Lent, both salmon burgers and beef burgers will be available this month. Proceeds of the burger night will benefit the Prairie Quilters who provide quilts for veterans similar to the Grangeville Quilts of Valor.
