Dust abatement project planned for Selway River roads starting May 21

Beginning May 21, three roads on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests’ Moose Creek Ranger District will undergo dust abatement. The work will temporarily impact travel on an 11-mile segment of Selway River Road 223, from milepost 7 to 18.7.

Spring cleanup for the City of Grangeville will be May 26-30. The city crew and equipment will be available that Thursday and Friday (May 29-30) to assist homeowners with the removal of items not picked up by Walco, Inc.

County answers Funderburg’s victim’s complaint

Attorneys for Idaho County, Sheriff Doug Giddings and Undersheriff Jim Gorges have filed a request for a jury trial and a point-by-point denial of plaintiffs’ allegations in the civil suit following from an illegal sexual relationship between then-ICSO deputy Daniel Funderburg and a Kamiah-area minor teenage girl.

Planning initial ignition of Fenn Face Prescribed Fire Project; May 22 public meeting set

The Moose Creek Ranger District of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests plans to begin ignition operations on the Fenn Face Prescribed Fire Project (Johnson Creek drainage) primarily to establish a buffer zone around the perimeter of the project area before igniting approximately 3,100 acres this fall.

SRAG art show set during White Bird Days

The Salmon River Art Guild White Bird Days Show and Sale will be held June 14 in White Bird at the IOOF Hall from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Pacific time.

Expect delays through May 9 on U.S. 12 near Lochsa Ranger Station

Motorists can expect 15-minute delays on U.S. Highway 12 between Pete King Road and Bald Mountain (near the Lochsa Ranger Station) due to road work by the Idaho Transportation Department. Crews are working on the bridge deck drilling cores to perform a foundation investigation. Width limit is 14 feet, and vehicle length limit is 128 feet.

Kamiah-Pierce Forest Road 100 closed

Forest Service engineers have closed a portion of the Kamiah-Pierce Road 100 at milepost 22.7 due to a crack in the surface. A site inspection by the engineers found the ground has shifted causing an upheaval and sag in the road surface. Until further investigation into the cause of the movement in the roadway is completed, it will remain closed.

The Idaho County Republican Central Committee will hold a candidates’ forum on Saturday, May 3, noon to 3 p.m., at the Grangeville Senior Center (north of town on the truck route).

Set for Thursday, May 1, Idaho Gives is a 24-hour online giving event that will benefit 660 causes across the state.

The Idaho Department of Lands sold a timber sale on Friday, April 19, at Kamiah. Four Corners, located 10 miles northeast of Kooskia, was sold to Idaho Forest Group LLC.
