It's Your Business: Benefit dinner set for Meissner; Asker’s wins chili contest

A spaghetti dinner and silent auction to help offset medical expenses for Cash and Carry employee Elaine Swanstrom Meissner has been set for Friday, March 16. The dinner will be held at the Grangeville Senior Citizens Center, 108 Truck Route. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the dinner served from 6-8 p.m. Admission is by donation. Elaine has been diagnosed with cervical cancer and will need to undergo chemotherapy, radiation and a hysterectomy. An account has been set up at Umpqua Bank in Elaine’s name.

Are you eligible for property tax relief in 2018?

Did you know that Idaho has a Property Tax Reduction program? The program reduces property taxes on an eligible homeowner’s primary Idaho residence and up to one acre of land by as much as $1,320. Reductions are grants from the state, and there’s no repayment. “Many homeowners think you have to be 65 before you can apply,” said Pam Waters, coordinator of the Property Tax Reduction program for the Idaho State Tax Commission. “But that’s not the case. You may be eligible at any age if you meet certain criteria.” To qualify, you must be in one of the following categories by Jan. 1, 2018:

Chili cook-off, Sushi Night are both March 3

Lewis-Clark State College has two upcoming enrichment classes set. A Small Business Development Center Business Roundtable is scheduled for Friday, March 14, with Barbara Leachman. This will be held 1:30 to 4 p.m. for a cost of $35. A Monastery of St. Gertrude Tour in Cottonwood is set for Saturday, March 17, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Sister Carol Ann Wassmuth and includes lunch for $38.
