Idaho County Fair kicks off today in Cottonwood

This year’s grand marshal for the fair is Jeannie Fitch of Riggins. “One of my first memories were the huge vegetables my father-in-law, Woody, entered and won purple on,” she recalled. “The next is the super pigtail contest; my daughter, Julie, won longest pigtail her first year. She entered every year and won in different categories. Fun memories!”

Cottonwood News: Blood drive is Aug. 28

We have started taking our young pheasants out to where they have brush for cover and water handy for drinking. They seem happy to be out and do a lot of exploring. It was fun raising them. The blood drive is coming up on Aug. 28 in Cottonwood from 11:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cottonwood Community Hall.

Minor injuries result in two-vehicle accident Sunday at Cottonwood

Both drivers received minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident outside town Sunday evening. Jill K. Seubert, 51, of Cottonwood, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood by ambulance. Gracen Christensen, 23, of White Bird, was taken to St. Mary’s by private vehicle.

Cottonwood woman killed in Sunday night collision

Idaho State Police is investigating a Sunday evening two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 95 that resulted in the death of a Cottonwood woman. Alexus Cane, 18, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

Idaho County Ambassadors: 21 years and going strong

The brainchild of former University of Idaho extension agent Mary Schmidt, the Idaho County Ambassadors made their debut in 1997. Twenty-one years later, Idaho County 4-H Program Director Susie Heckman said she thoroughly appreciates the work Idaho County 4-H Ambassadors provide. “I count on them, especially during the fair,” she said. “They work hard.”
