Untrue statement on my seat belt use

I would like to correct the statement made in the news article concerning the fatality accident on Highway 12 Aug. 2nd; Neither occupant of the explorer were wearing seat belts. I do not know where this got started. It first appeared on KLER news on Facebook. I replied then to correct it, but it was still repeated by Lewiston TV and the newspapers.

Don’t judge all MVSD teachers by actions of a few

The loud, demanding voices of a few vocal union members do not reflect the true nature of the majority of MVSD teachers. This angry mob mentality is held by only those who are intent on dictating their personal opinions and problems to the school district without following proper protocol and procedures.

Vote warranted on forming Ridge Runner fire district

When it comes to firefighting, that service is critical to protect lives and property. It needs to be done. It’s great when you can provide that service privately, but if you can’t, the option isn’t to ignore this public need. A compulsory option to support this needs to be enacted.

Respecting our rights; no need for reform

Idaho Freedom Foundation - Stop promoting ways to mess with freedoms

Phil Haunschild of the Idaho Freedom Foundation says the government shouldn’t have to pay newspapers to advertise public notices to “We the people.” Why did Haunschild send his guest opinion (July 25) to newspapers when, as he states, only thirty-three million people receive newspapers? Because more than thirty-three million people read newspapers.

USFS manages forests strictly for its money

A local spokesman for the Forest Service did make a statement, which I totally agree with 100 percent. He stated that, “In 2015, 56 percent of the Forest Service budget was spent on wildfires. In 1995 it was only 16 percent, and in 2025 it is projected to be 67 percent.” Yes, our forests are being managed strictly for money for the U.S.F.S. agency.

Compression of compassion

Hysterical and hypocritical invective have no place in political dialogue. ICE and Homeland Security are working within the constraints of court rulings and are the law of the land. Fact: Politically, there is a pathological hatred of Donald Trump

Difficult enough to survive, and state wants to penalize

Believe me, no one is going to Disney Land (sic) on food stamps, TANF, Social Security, and/or Social Security Disability. (The rules governing these programs are extremely prohibitive). Then, there are the consequences for violation of the rules: You must pay back funds and/or jail time is imposed – both of these have longstanding consequences when looking for a job.
