Pirates capture consolation trophy with two wins at state

Despite a sustained surge during the second half — during which the Prairie boys outscored Ambrose more than two-to-one – the Pirates’ slow start to the 1AD1 state tournament stranded them in the consolation bracket. Prairie went on to beat Riverstone by 12 and Liberty Charter by 39, securing a trophy despite a 57-55 loss in the opening round.

GHS cheerleaders qualify to compete at state

The Grangeville High School cheerleaders qualified for state competition — a first for GHS since IHSAA sanction began in 2013. Competing in four events at the district qualifier last month, the GHS cheerleaders took first in all-girl show routine, second in pom and second in sideline – and came within a few points of qualifying in the fourth.

Spring sports fire up this week — if weather allows

The Clearwater Valley baseball boys are penciled in to lead off the local spring sports seasons at 4 p.m. March 9 against Cole Valley Christian at CVHS. The Grangeville boys are slated to play Cole Valley at 11 a.m. March 10, and after the Grangeville game, the Rams have scheduled a 2 p.m. date with that other “CV.”

Pirates on to state with wins over Potlatch, Wallace

A 58-44 Prairie win over Potlatch last Thursday night, Feb. 22, all but paved the Pirates’ road to state; on their way to this week’s 1AD1 title tournament at Vallivue High School, the Prairie boys ran over Wallace 65-48 last Saturday at Post Falls.

Potlatch bounces KHS from district playoffs

The Kamiah boys trailed early, and though they battled to the end, Potlatch prevailed 67-54 in a District II tournament elimination game Feb. 20. Kaleb Oatman scored 22, Luke Snyder scored 17.
