Ellis Elmer Soden, 77, of Kooskia, Idaho, passed away Nov. 12, 2013, of complications of pneumonia. He was born in Tieton, Wash., July 15, 1936. He married Roberta Wallace in 1956, and they raised three daughters and later divorced. He then met the love of his life, Connie Baldwin, in 1974. They married in 1980, and he gained her children, a daughter and son to whom he was a wonderful dad. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives.
He worked at CFI mill in Kooskia for nearly 30 years where he earned the nickname “Smoke” by his friends. He retired from there in 2001 and missed his work very much. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, riding his four-wheeler and mushroom hunting. You could always find him out working in his shop on some project.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; sister, Earlene Matson; four daughters, Cindy Dixon, Ronda Crandell, Jeri Tidd and Lorraine Walker; son, Brad Baldwin; and seven grandkids, Andrea, Travis, Jamie, David, Samantha, Joe and Jake; and five great-grandkids.
As to his wishes there will be no services. Condolences may be sent to Lorraine at P.O. Box 153, Stites, ID 83552.
