Donna Jean Stephens, 81, of Grangeville, Idaho, formerly of Lewiston, Idaho, went to be with the Lord Jan. 10, 2014, at her brother’s home in Grangeville where she had resided for the past year.
She was born Aug. 13, 1932, at Winchester, Idaho, to William M. (Montie) and Mary A. Stephens. She was the fourth out of eight children.
She grew up in Winchester and graduated from Winchester High School as valedictorian. She attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, Wash. She worked in the telephone office at Winchester and then worked until retirement in various locations with Boise Cascade Corporation.
She started attending the National Fiddle Contest in Weiser in 1966 until 2013, 48 years without missing. Many of her family are fiddlers and she loved fiddle music. One of her main hobbies was making calendars with sequins and beads for friends and family. She loved watching sports and the Seattle Seahawks were her favorite team. She was a member of Orchards Christian Church in Lewiston and attended Grangeville Christian Church in Grangeville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William M. and Mary A. Stephens; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stephens and Susie Stephens.
She is survived by brothers, Max Stephens of Winchester, Bob (Maryjo) Stephens of Elma, Wash., Bill Stephens of Lewiston, Keith (Jan) Stephens of Curlew, Wash., Duane (Sue) Stephens of Grangeville; sisters, Elaine Green of Sturgis, S.D., and Joan Turula of Toledo, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, before the 2 p.m. service at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7th Street and Cedar, in Lewiston. Pastor Harold Gott of Grangeville Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Lewis Clark Memorial Gardens.
There will be a potluck at the community room at Mountain View Funeral Home following the services.
