Austin Jeffrey Blackmer passed away Nov. 2, 2014, in Boise, Idaho. He was born on Dec. 16, 1994, in Lewiston, Idaho. He attended school in Grangeville, Idaho, from kindergarten to senior year, graduating in 2013.
Most of his closest friends were people he knew his whole life, going to school together all 12 years. They all knew Austin to be a very strong leader in life, and always a good influence on those around him, often times by just being there for someone who needed help. He was a great motivator, especially to his teammates, and always led by example. He was always the person who could be counted on by his friends to be there. Anyone who had the opportunity to know Austin will remember his smile. The way he could light up a room was amazing! He always put his family first and was so protective of his younger siblings. He always felt the responsibility of being the older brother and took a lot of pride in that.
He worked very hard at what he set his mind to, and always showed a tremendous amount of respect for those around him. He was a very gracious and polite young man, with a strong faith in God. Austin always showed an amazing and natural talent for sports.
Austin is survived by his parents, Kristin Mitchell of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Jeff and Sharon Blackmer of Grangeville, Idaho; his siblings, Peyton, 15, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Nichole, 15, and Matt, 11, both of Grangeville, Idaho. He is also survived by grandparents, Richard and Donell Bosse of Granite Falls, Wash., Jan and Gary Barton of Irmida, Idaho, Lloyd Blackmer of Grangeville, Idaho, Dick and Judy Dillon of Payette, Idaho, and Mildred Geis of Keuterville, Idaho; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Grace, and grandfather, George Geis.
