Brenda Ellen (Cordery) Childers passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Grangeville Health and Rehab in Grangeville, Idaho. She was born Dec. 16, 1944, at Springfield, Ill., to John and Louise Cordery. Brenda lived in Springfield, Ill., for 65 years and lived out her remaining years in Grangeville.
In her early years she worked as a CNA and eventually retired from St. John’s Hospital as a housekeeper.
She loved bingo, camping and 4-wheeling.
Brenda was married to Frank Shelton of Springfield, Ill., and they had eight children together. They later divorced and she married Walter (Sonny) Childers who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Mickie (Rick) Miller of Grangeville, Idaho, John Shelton, Tina Murray, Paula Mastne, Tracy (Norman) Chapman, and Robin (Scott) Lewis all of Springfield, Ill.; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her sister, Kitty (Ed) Cruson of Grangeville, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John Cordery; her son, Frankie Shelton; her daughter, Debbie Shelton; and her great-granddaughter, Mickie.
Viewing was held at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville on Monday, Oct. 27, and graveside services followed at Prairie View Cemetery with Pastor Vic Cline officiating.
