Bennie Donald Swenson, 73, was relieved of his pain on June 17, 2015, at his home in Grangeville after a long, hard fight to overcome complications of gall bladder surgery. He was born May 17, 1942, to Albert and Nellie Swenson in Scobey, Mont. In 1962 he married Kathy Graff in Scobey. Together they had daughter, Lisa Stoltz, and son, Darin. They later divorced in 1984.
He married Patricia Poore in 1987. After a long career with the USDA - Soil Conservation Service in Montana and Wyoming he retired in 1996. In 2003, Ben and Pat moved to Grangeville where he worked at Ace Home Center, Grangeville Builders Supply and Early Bird Supply. Some of his greatest joys were working with his horses, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Lisa (Jonathan) Stoltz of Pendroy, Mont.; son, Darin (Cynthia) Swenson of Billings, Mont.; stepdaughter, Lisa (Mark) Moser of Orofino; stepson, Michiel Poore, Jr. of Lewistown, Mont.; grandchildren, Alexandra Stoltz, Thomas Swenson; and step-grandchildren, Mikayla Moser, Haylin Moser and Jack Poore.
Ben had the opportunity to meet many people throughout his adventures and made numerous friends. He loved this community and the great people who were always there with a helping hand. Ben will be missed by many and the family thanks you for your love and support.
