Geneal Copper Stearns Jones, 89, passed away on Oct. 20, 2015, in Citrus Heights, Calif. Born Jan. 14, 1926, and raised in Grangeville, Idaho, Geneal obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She and her husband, John (Jack) Stearns, moved to Sacramento in 1958. Geneal taught school in Sacramento from 1961 through 1986, retiring from her teaching career at Louis Pasteur Middle School in Orangevale, Calif. After her first husband’s death, she married James R. (JR) Jones and moved to Carson City, Nev., where she lived for many years and enjoyed her retirement. Her biggest passions in life were gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, card games and her family.
Geneal is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Stearns; son, Robert (Rob) Stearns; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Copper and Mary Copper Huber Imthurn; brother, Ray Copper; first husband, Jack Stearns; second husband, J.R. Jones; and daughter, Risa Stearns.
