Jon Ivan Slichter, 58, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, in Phoenix, Ariz., as a result of pancreatic cancer.
Jon was born July 2, 1957, at Grangeville, Idaho, to Samuel L. and Melva Lanningham Slichter. He was the youngest of six siblings: Ron of Lewiston, Idaho; Larry of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sterling, Alaska; Allan of Riggins, Idaho; Leon; and sister, Kathleen Vopat both of Grangeville. He grew up on the family farm and attended Grangeville schools and the Christian Church. He graduated from Grangeville High School in 1975.
Jon married Tracy Workman Aug. 8, 1976. Three sons were born to them: Jon Mikel of Moscow, Idaho; Jesse of Denver, Colo.; and Jayme of Boise, Idaho. They blessed Jon with four grandchildren.
Jon's passion was golfing. He worked on golf courses much of his life.
His last place of employment was as the pro at Tres Rio in Goodyear, Ariz.
Jon will be missed by his sons; his grandchildren; his siblings; his special friend, Charlene Ralston and her daughters, Erin and Danielle and their children; his extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister, Sareta Marlene; and his sons' mother, Tracy.
A memorial service was held at Tres Rio on Oct. 20. Another time of remembering will be held at Grangeville in the spring when his sons are able to attend.
