Keith F. Conklin, 72, quietly slipped into Heaven with Jesus his Lord and Savior on April 1, 2016 (no joke), his goal for the last 49 years. He loved his Lord and his Lord loves him.
Keith was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Buhl, Idaho, to James Hallie and Hazel Conklin. He attended elementary and high school in Hagerman, Idaho. He grew up on a small farm and joined the U.S. Coast Guard upon graduation. He was stationed with the Coast Guard in Brookings, Ore., when he met Lila Hester in 1966. They were married in 1967 and had two children, a son, Brian, and a daughter, Amy.
Keith separated from the military after 10 years and went to barber school in Boise, Idaho, and had a barbershop in Buhl before deciding to re-enlist in the Coast Guard in 1978. He retired from the Coast Guard in 1991 and moved to Grangeville, Idaho, and opened Mr. C's Tonsorial Parlor. He retired again in 2011 due to his health becoming a problem.
Keith loved what he did in life and loved people. He lived his life with no regrets.
He is survived by his wife at the family home in Grangeville; son, Brian (LeNoir) Conklin and their three sons, Nicholas, Micah, Joshua, of Port Hadlock, Wash.; daughter, Amy (Zack) Smith and children, Zachary, Jillian and twins, Jack and Ty, of Grangeville; sister, Doris Schermerhorn of Harrisburg, Ore.; brother, Donald and Tamera Conklin of Melba, Idaho; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at the Grangeville Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville. Services are under the direction of Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolences to the family to Blackmerfuneralhome.com.
