Dad, Grandpa, friend, John Douglas Nail, 85, will be dearly missed. Doug passed away Feb. 4, 2016, at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grangeville.
Doug was born to Jessie Yates and Cornelius Nail Dec. 10, 1930, in Grangeville, Idaho. Doug had two sisters, Marian (Lee) Foltz, Patricia Nail, and two brothers, Harvey (Bonnie) Nail and Eric Nail.
Doug graduated from Hill's Military Academy and went to the U of I in Moscow. He pledged Delta Chi Fraternity. He had to return to Grangeville and help his Granddad Roy with the farming. Doug and his brother, Harvey, started farming with Roy Nail at a very young age. They learned so much from Roy, regarding farming practices and know-how. He loved every aspect of farming. loved to talk and argue politics. God help you if you were on the other end of that argument. When he decided to quit farming, he liked to drive around the field and watch the operation (always with advice).
Doug and Kathy loved traveling back and forth several years with their friends to southern California and Mexico.
Doug enjoyed collecting and shooting different types of guns. He loved hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by four children with Vera Fredericks: Lori Bushnell, Linda Hadley, Mark Nail and Karena Koutroulis; grandchildren, Natalie, Tiffany, Bo, Camie, Justin, Jason, Travis, Selena, Summer, Dave; and several great-grandchildren.
A public viewing will be held today, Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 4-6 p.m. at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. A private family service will be held at a later date.
