Lois Ann Koenig died in Grangeville, Idaho, on Jan. 25, 2017. She was born on Oct. 17, 1917 in Holland, Mich., to Peter and Hilda DeVries.
She received her early education in Grand Rapids, Mich., West Virginia and higher education in California.
On May 17, 1936, she married Cecil F. Koenig in Gardnerville, Nev. Her son, Cecil A. Koenig was born in 1937.
Lois lived in Markleeville, Calif., until her husband joined the Navy in 1943.
In 1975 Lois and Cecil moved to Grangeville after Cecil retired as a superintendent of California Cal-Trans.
Lois was active as a den mother in the Boy Scouts, a member of the Plumas County, Calif., mining chapter, the Emblem Club and Beta Sigma Phi.
Lois enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and any outdoor activity.
Lois is survived by her son, Cecil A Koenig, and his wife, Sandra; grandson, David A. Koenig; granddaughter, Kristine Ann Harrison, and her husband, Steve; great grandchildren, Caden and Marin Harrison; brother, Peter D. DeVries and family of Leavenworth, Wash.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Cecil; her brothers, Joseph and Allen DeVries; her sister, Lorraine; and her parents.
Lois was thankful for the love and friendship given by her very close friends in Grangeville, as is her family.
Lois always looked for the good in people and had such a positive attitude. As a wife, mother and grandmother she excelled. She will be missed.
Lois will be laid to rest beside her husband, Cecil, at the Fredericksburg Cemetery in Alpine County, Calif.
