Our beloved son and brother, Tim, left this world to be with our heavenly Father on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his home with family at his bedside, due to complications of Multiple Sclerosis.Tim was born November 17, 1953, son of Anthony and Mary Fuchs Wassmuth in Grangeville, Idaho.
He was raised in Grangeville and attended Sts. Peter & Paul Elementary School, attended and graduated Grangeville High School in 1972 with honors. He was awarded the Blue Key Scholarship, and Davis Brothers Scholarship for scholastic achievement and campus achievement as well as being Salutatorian for his Class of 1972, Grangeville High School.
He attended the University of Idaho and graduated cum laude in 1976. While attending University of Idaho, he was member of the Inter-fraternity Council of Phi Beta Sigma Business Fraternity, President’s Council of U of I and held the offices of President, Vice President and Secretary of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He went on to finish his education at the University of Oregon to get his Masters of Business Administration degree in 1977 with honors. He served as Vice President of U of O Chapter of the Pacific Northwest Personal Management Association. He was also President of Carson Hall (Men’s Graduate Dormitory) at the U of O. While attending U of I and U of O he earned and paid 90% of his college expenses while working in the summer for the Nez Perce National Forest from 1973 to 1977. He was on the Hot Shot fire crew.
He married Linda Konishi in May 1979. They later divorced.
His first position was attained as a sales representative for Proctor & Gamble Company from 1978 to 1980 in the Seattle Paper Products Division. He was promoted to District Field Representative January 1980 to 1981. In November of 1981, he was again promoted to Unit Manager for the Denver District. In December 1981 to September 1982 he was promoted to Area Sales Manager for the Seven Up Company, a division of Philip Morris Company for Western Washington/Hawaii. In September 1982 to April 1984, was promoted again as Senior Section Manager for 7 Up Company for Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and Hawaii. In April 1984 to 1989 he worked as Senior Section Manager for 7 Up Company for all of Northern California. In April 1989 to May 1995 was promoted to Division Manager for Dr. Pepper/7Up Company for the California/Nevada Division. In May 1995 to Jan 1997, Tim was Region Sales & Marketing Manager for Cadbury Beverages in the San Francisco Region. In Jan. 1997 to July 1999 he was promoted to Regional Sales & Marketing Manager for Cadbury Beverages for the Western Washington Region. He received the Victor Award for Sales and Marketing Executives – International in February of 1990; Presidents Award from Dr. Pepper/7 Up Company in Aug. of 1990; Leaders Count Award from Dr. Pepper/7 Up Co. in Aug. of 1992; Citations Who’s Who Registry of Rising Young Americans in March of 1993; Best of the West Awards from Dr. Pepper/7 UP Co. in Dec of 1994; Top Performers Club of Dr. Pepper/7 Up; Chairman of Field Advisory Committee of Dr. Pepper/7 Up.
Tim retired in 1999 due to his illness.
After returning to Grangeville, Tim became active with Sts. Peter & Paul Church, becoming a member of the Building Committee and Pastoral Council. He was also on the Syringa Hospital Board from 2008 to 2009.
He enjoyed many years of spending time traveling to new places, hiking, camping, riding ATV, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed working genealogy with his Aunt Hilda and Aunt Liz Wassmuth and reading books, telling the history of where he has been. Those preceding Tim in death were his biological mother, Mary Fuchs Lance; brothers, George Remington and Douglas Wassmuth; mother, Eileen Wassmuth; and great niece, Skarlytte Wassmuth.
Those surviving Tim are his Father, Tony Wassmuth; sisters, Christina Johnson (Herb), Janet Nunziato (Fred), Tracy Cox (Ken); brothers, Brad Wassmuth (Cathy), Donald Wassmuth (Sally), Dave Lance; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Tim Wassmuth thanks his caregivers; Armanda Scheuerman, Chelsea Drivstuen, Jordan Sewell, Stephanie Hohman; Connie Pagel, Pam Baker, Bea Shatto, Amber Chicane and Tammy Plank. Syringa Hospital staff, Syringa Hospice, Dr. Tema Jessup, Dr. Told, Dr. Dardis, Dr. Hollopeter and Dr. Griffis. Any donations, please send to the MS Society. A viewing will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. at Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. A rosary will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 7 p.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
