Norma Lea Sears

March 18, 1938 - October 13, 2017

Norma Lea Sears, 79, of Asotin, Wash., died peacefully Oct. 13, 2017, at home with members of her loving family by her side. She was born in White Bird, Idaho, on March 18, 1938, to Ramsey Glover and Erma (Thompson) Zumwalt. She lived in Grangeville, Idaho until 1976, then moved to the Missoula/Lolo, Mont. area, and finally to Asotin in 1992, where she met Byron Sears and they married in 1994.

Some of her work history included being a dispatcher at the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office in Grangeville; at the cedar shake mill, as a phone operator, and for the street department for the city in Missoula; seafood processor for Seahawk Seafoods in Valdez, Alaska; and finally retiring from Hastings Entertainment in Lewiston, Idaho, in 2016 after 18 years of faithful service.

In her early life, she was a member of the Women’s Bowling League at Camas Lanes and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Grangeville. She canned food for her family that she grew in her own garden; she also had a crazy green thumb and grew the most beautiful flowers. She was an amazing cook, loved sewing and crocheting, reading books and watching true crime shows. She especially enjoyed watching hummingbirds and wildlife from the comfort of her own backyard, and spending time with loved ones. She was the best mom and friend anyone could ask for and if you had the pleasure of knowing her, you were richer for it.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ramsey Glover; mother, Erma Zumwalt; sister, Patricia Allred; and daughter, Abby Heitter Forsmann.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Byron Sears; five daughters, Debbie Pollan, Cindy Tromp, Vanessa Springer, Athena Hancock, and Sabrina Heitter; four brothers, John Glover, Stan Glover, Richard Glover and Jerry Glover; one sister, Carol Glover; 16 grandkids and 14 great-grandkids.

There will be a memorial service and potluck at noon on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 218 North C St., in Grangeville, ID.
