Barry Merritt was born at Council, Idaho, on Nov. 12, 1942.
Barry is from Riggins, Idaho, and passed on peacefully to heaven, at his home Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017. He was 74. Barry married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Baldwin on Aug. 19, 1961.
He started work at the age of 14 raking hay for Circle C Ranch. He drove forklift and was a shift foreman at Salmon River Lumber Co. until 1983. Barry then worked as a shift foreman for Snow Mountain Pine in Hines/Burns, Ore. until 1989. He was loading operator for Helmich Industries until retirement.
Barry enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, four wheeling, gardening and dancing.
He could build, fix or weld almost anything.
Barry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley; son, Dallasb (Mindy) Merritt, of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Angela (Paulo) Martinez, of Rickreall, Ore.; sister, Emadee Krahn; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded by his parents, Eddie and Evelyn Merritt; sister, Barbie Merritt; and close cousin, Danny Patterson.
You gave us the adventure of a lifetime and we are forever grateful for your generous, giving spirit that touched the lives of so many.
A memorial service was held Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at the Riggins Community Center (former IOOF Hall). Arrangements are under the direction of Blackmer Funeral Home of Grangeville, Idaho.
