Lt. Colonel Raymond Joseph Frese, USAF-Ret, 98, died July 30, 2018 in Christiansburg, Va., with his daughters by his side. He was born in Quincy, Ill., Jan. 25, 1920.
As a career Air Force fighter pilot and logistician, he completed combat tours in WWII in the Pacific with the 35th Fighter Group, with the 35th Fighter Group in Korea in 1950, and in Vietnam in 1967-1968. He served as the Chief of Evaluations and Procedures at Air Force Headquarters in the Pentagon. He retired after 29 years of heroic service to the United States.
He worked for the U.S. Printing Office and PEPCO after his military service. Ray was a life member of the Masonic Order, the Shriners, and the Eastern Star.
Ray was the much loved husband of Edith; and the father of Pamela and Nancy; grandfather of Benjamin, James, Calvin, and Selena; and great-grandfather of Teven and Kannon. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria, Va.
