Iva Jeanne Henderson, 60, of Pollock, Idaho, entered into the full presence of her Heavenly Father, Yahweh, on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, due to a birth defect of the heart.
She was born Aug. 6, 1957, in Sacramento, Calif., to John Robert Kurts and Jackuline Eunice (Sallee) Kurts. During her young life her family lived in California, Colorado, Montana and Idaho, wherever her father’s jobs would take them. At one point they lived in Lucile, Idaho, where Iva met Rich, the love of her life, in high school.
Iva and Rich were married in 1972 and started building their family in the Riggins, Idaho, area. They spent a few years in Burns, Ore., where Rich worked for a logging business, then eventually came back to the Riggins area to raise their four children.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her husband, Rich; daughters, Brenda (Ron) Hazelton, Judy (Travis) Delaney, Joni (Adam) Byerley; and son, Seth Henderson; as well as thirteen grandchildren; her father, John (Joy) Kurts; brother, Robert (Christy) Kurts; sister, Dalonna (John) McGill; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Iva was a devout Christian, devoted wife and mother. She worked alongside Rich in his trucking business as well as working many jobs within her community. She was a force to be reckoned with, a true pioneer woman. She had a sparkling, engaging personality and a delightful curious mind. She loved cooking, sewing, needlework and the outdoors. She adored her children and grandchildren. She touched a lot of people’s lives and will truly be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the I.O.O.F. Hall (Riggins Community Center), 121 Lodge St., in Riggins, Idaho, on Jan. 27, 2018, at 1 p.m.
