Rodney S. Pilant finished his heroic fight with a rare disease June 18, 2018.
Rod was born on Aug. 14, 1972 in Grangeville, Idaho to Larry and Wanda Pilant. He was raised in White Bird, Idaho until graduating from Grangeville High School in 1990.
Rod was blessed with his first son, Steven, in Aug.1991.
He later moved to Boise where he worked as a welder fabricator. He was blessed with three more boys: Colton Pilant, Forrest Pilant and Hunter Pilant whom he shared with Kristy Pilant. He moved back to White Bird in 1999 and went to work for Wimer Machine in Cottonwood. He married his soul mate, Josi Lear, in 2013 and together they had two daughters, Sequoia and Briar Rose, and he became stepfather to Lindsay Heitman and Aiyana Lear.
Anyone who knows Rod knows of his intense love for anything outdoors. You could find him fishing, hunting and collecting arrowheads every chance he got. If he wasn’t outdoors, he was hitting yard sales looking for his next antique. Rod became mayor of White Bird for a time in 2016. He had so many plans for the little town he loved.
Rod is survived by his wife, Josi; his children: Steven (Mel), Colton (Hannah), Forrest, Hunter, Sequoia, Briar Rose, Lindsay, and Aiyana, along with three grandchildren, his mother Wanda, father Larry, brother Mike and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the White Bird IOOF Hall. Services were under the direction of Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. Send condolences to the family to Blackmerfuneralhome.com
