Thomas “Tom” Earl Johnson was born March 10, 1928, in Boise, Idaho. Tom departed from this life on July 6, 2018, in Arlington, Wash.
Tom was a resident of Stites, Idaho from 1977 to 2005 after he retired as a decorated veteran from the United States Army after 21 years of service.
In 1951, he married the love of his life, Helen Barker, now Johnson. During their 67-year marriage they had three sons together: Terry, David, and Danny.
Tom volunteered for the US Army where he was an Air Traffic Controller, did a tour in Vietnam, and was awarded four bronze stars.
After Tom retired from the military, he worked at the Clearwater Forest Industries Mill for 15 years and served as the Mayor of Stites, Idaho for one term in the mid-1980s.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Johnson, 84 years of age, who currently resides with family in Washington; his sons Terry Johnson and David Johnson; nice grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren with three more great-grandchildren on the way and one great-great-grandchild.
Tom will also be forever cherished by his extended family and dear friends.
A celebration of Tom’s life was held with visitation at his home in Arlington, Wash, during the week of July 8th.
