William J. Kauffman, 89, died peacefully Friday, April 27, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lewiston, Idaho.
Born Feb. 28, 1929, in Orofino, Idaho, Bill was raised in Pierce, Grangeville and Lewiston, Idaho. After high school Bill enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea. He married his childhood sweetheart, Bonnie Zumwalt in 1950.
They raised three boys while he worked as a freight agent for the Camas Prairie Railroad in depots up and down the rail line.
Bill loved camping, card games, fishing, and many kinds of sports. He valued his friends, and continued to charm people up until the end. He was gentle and humble.
Bill is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Neil, Doug and Dave Kauffman; daughters-in-law, Glen and Delores Kauffman; and many grand and step-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Barbara Kauffman.
A remembrance of life is scheduled 1 p.m., May 12, 2018, in the garden of Guardian Angel Tudor House, 2223 Vineyard Avenue, Lewiston Idaho.
The family wants to sincerely thank the management and staff at Guardian Angel Homes for the exceptional care they gave Bill.
