Uncle Dick died in a tragic automobile accident near Craigmont, Idaho, on Dec. 14, 2017.
Dick was born in Sebastopol, Calif., Oct. 13, 1926, to Martin “Pat” and Millicent (Van Luvanee) Huntley.
The family left California in 1930, and headed to God’ss Country in Central Idaho. They settled on a ranch near Morrowtown when Dick was a boy, and he would continue to live on the ranch for the remainder of his life. He attended school in Morrowtown, and served in the US Navy from October 1944 to August 1946. In the Navy he received training in electronics, and later became known as a genius in this field. Dick and Ralph Mathison would later go on to install, and maintain all the TV translators on the Prairie and the Valley bringing broadcast television to the fine folks living there.
Dick was a brilliant, quiet man who was preceded in death by his father, Pat; mother, Millie; sister, June; nephew, David Mager; and his wife, Dianne.
He is survived by his niece, Patty Settle (Bill) and nephews, Rick (Beth) Mager, Scott (Karen) Mager and Jeff Mager; and his “brother” and dear friend, Ralph Mathison.
Interment will be at Craigmont Cemetery with a private family service.
