It's Your Business: Benefit set for White, Underwood; Killgores add on to river business

You may have heard about the auto accident that Asker’s Harvest Foods employees Sheri White and Jenny Underwood were involved in at Spokane last month. Jenny is home and Sheri is still up north, and both are slowly recovering. A spaghetti benefit dinner is set for the duo to help cover some of their medical and travel expenses. Everyone is invited to the Grangeville Elks Lodge this Friday, May 5, 6 p.m. Donations of $10 per plate will be appreciated and a no-host bar will be available. A silent auction is also set from 6 to 9 p.m., with karaoke after dinner.

New Idaho area code ‘986’ to be used in 2017

State regulators recently approved a 16-month plan for Idaho’s second area code to be implemented in late 2017. An hour after the Idaho Public Utilities Commission issued its order approving the plan, the agency that contracts with the federal government to administer the nation’s area code numbering plan, Neustar, issued Idaho’s second area code: 986. The second area code will be issued only to new telephone numbers beginning in late 2017. Idaho is one of few states that still has one area code, “208” issued in 1947.

Raffle proceeds will go to help Riggins baby

The Tourist Trap Consignment and Gift Shop and Sterling Bank in Riggins are selling raffle tickets for a one-of-a-kind metal art work made by Tom Travis. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and all proceeds will go toward medical expenses of the premature daughter of David and Elizabeth Galli, Lillian. The family will be returning to Riggins when Lillian makes a few more hospital milestones. The drawing is set for March 8 and the art work is on display until then at Sterling Bank in Riggins.
