$10k loss in Dabco burglary; reward offered for information

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) is investigating a Kamiah-area burglary at Dabco Logging that occurred earlier this month in which tools and industrial equipment were stolen. Dabco is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Alcohol a suspected factor in fatal crash

Alcohol is a suspected factor in last week’s fatal vehicle crash outside Kamiah. Roy J. Gehrke, 62, of Nezperce, succumbed to his injuries at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, according to Idaho State Police.

Cause as yet undetermined for Saturday’s fatal crash at Riggins

Katelyn J. Thayer, 17, was killed in the April 21 crash reported 2.4 miles up the Salmon River Road, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office. A second person reported involved in the incident, Alaska Frandsen, 17, of Malad, was transported to McCall and flown by Life Flight to Boise. She has since been released from care.

Pollock couple held in Oregon on warrants for Hoot’s burglary

Incarcerated in Oregon, a Pollock couple await extradition on pending felony charges related to a burglary in February. Bond is set at $25,000 for Shamra C. Dewitt, 31, and $50,000 for Steeven G. Nunez, 29, both of whom are being held in Baker County, Ore. The pair was arrested March 4 on Idaho County warrants by Baker City Police (BCP).

Meth, heroin trafficking charges against couple following traffic stop

Idaho County law enforcement is continuing its investigation into a Washington State couple arrested last week for felony drug trafficking, with more charges anticipated to be filed. Melanie A. Huntley and Sean D. Huntley, both 50, of Lake Stevens, are currently incarcerated in the Idaho County jail with bond set, respectively, at $25,000 and $10,000, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO).

Burglary strikes trailers at storage lot; info sought

Police were dispatched to the lot, located off the truck route, on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 3:05 p.m., according to Chief Morgan Drew. The initial investigation found 13 travel trailers and one boat were either broken into or a break-in was attempted.

Stites man arrested after late night pursuit

According to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) release, Sergeant Craig Hoodman attempted to stop a 2003 Subaru Impreza on B Avenue in Kooskia for failing to stop at a stop sign. The Subaru, driven by a male later identified as Nielsen, allegedly fled and accelerated to a high rate of speed crossing blind intersections without slowing and reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour. Nielsen left town and traveled east on Highway 12, turning onto Harris Ridge Road.

KMO investigating inmate’s death in Idaho County Jail

Cause of death is pending an autopsy for a 21-year-old Grangeville man who suffered medical issues while in Idaho County custody. Justin R. Ross was pronounced deceased at Syringa Hospital last Thursday night, Dec. 14. The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) has requested the Kamiah Marshall’s Office to conduct an incident investigation.

Investigation into human remains discovered in Lewis County

Investigation is under way into human remains discovered in Lewis County last week. All of the remains located appear to be weathered and aged, according to a release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). Remains will be analyzed by forensic anthropologists and dental specialists to determine age, sex, race, and physical characteristics to assist law enforcement in their identification.

Investigation into indecent exposure incident at Lions Park

Grangeville Police are currently investigating a Sunday evening indecent exposure incident at Lions Park involving two children as reported victims. “We don’t have any known suspects at this point,” said Chief Morgan Drew, and police are following leads based on the physical descriptions given.
