Grangeville Ski Patrol outdoor emergency care instructor Brian Adams (right) and student Paul Sonnen went through the sign-ups for the course the Ski Patrol is offering this winter.
About a dozen were present for the sign-up session for the course, which will covers topics similar to what other emergency medical care providers receive, and it will ultimately certify successful students to help with emergencies at facilities such as Snowhaven Ski and Tubing Area.
The course also addresses aspects of first responder care that are unique to the great outdoors, such as how to dismantle — rather than destroy — an expensive ski boot in the course of treating a leg injury.
