Oregon man arrested for felony eluding

Jeremy W. Garcia, 40, with his last address as Grants Pass, was arrested on charges of felony eluding, misdemeanor resisting and obstructing and driving without privileges. He is being held in the Idaho County jail on $30,000 bond.

Tort filed against county, sheriff's office in 2017 jail death

The parents of a Grangeville man, Justin R. Ross, who died while in custody in the Idaho County jail last year, have filed a tort claim against the Cottonwood Police Department (CPD), Idaho County and the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) alleging actions of negligence that resulted in his death.

Murder trial move granted; prosecutor off Lankford case

Mark H. Lankford is tentatively set for trial next month for the 1983 double murder of an Arizona couple. But it won’t be in Idaho County, nor will Idaho County Prosecutor Kirk MacGregor be leading the case. In a Nov. 21 order, District Judge Jay P. Gaskill granted a request by the defendant’s counsel to a change of venue in the case, and to recuse MacGregor as prosecutor.

Man facing statutory rape charge incurs witness intimidation felony

While in the Idaho County jail on a pending statutory rape charge, a Kooskia man is alleged to have asked go-betweens to convince the victim in the case to state nothing happened between them. Now, Glenn A. Mason, 58, has a new felony charge, attempted intimidation of a witness, a felony, along with misdemeanor violation of a no-contact order.

Rider ordered, prison pending, in manslaughter case

A 365-day retained jurisdiction was ordered Monday, Dec. 4, for a Grangeville man, convicted on felony vehicular manslaughter in the 2016 death of a Kooskia woman. That gives David R. McIntyre, 26, a chance to comply with court-ordered programs and treatment during his year’s incarceration. Failure to do so, and he’s looking at serving five to 10 years in prison.
