Clearwater Valley News: Cross-country runners qualify for state

Our Kamiah Kubs and CV Rams cross-country runners competed at the district meet last week with great success. Nine of the 18 runners qualified for the State of Idaho meet in Eagle Saturday, Oct. 28. CV Rams runner, Melanie Gianopulos, and Kubs runner, Michael MacMenamin, both placed first in the girls’ and boys’ races respectively, both setting personal records with their winning times! The Kamiah boys team placed third and qualified for the state meet as a team of seven runners. Freshman Kub runner Jace Sams placed eighth overall while sophomore Derek Loewen placed 19th overall, reducing his time by an astounding five minutes from last year. Rams runner, junior Kevin Hill, qualified for state after just missing qualifying last year. Good luck to the CV and Kamiah runners at State! Coach Janna Privette is optimistic about her runners’ continued success next weekend. On Halloween, kids are invited to join the October costume contest after school. They will line up in front of the Kamiah fire station for judging, then proceed to trick-or-treat at the Main Street businesses. Taffee at the Chamber, tells me this is her favorite event of the year; the costumes and the kids are great!
