The Prairie Pirates and the Lapwai Wildcats both lost in the semifinals of the Class 1A Division 1 girls state basketball tournament. Playing for third, Lapwai defeated Prairie.

Led by coach Lori Mader, the Prairie Pirates start the Class 1A Division 1 State girls basketball tournament with an 18-3 record. The team averages nearly 62 points per game. Senior Jordyn Higgins, the player of the year for the Whitepine League 1AD1, and junior India Peery are players to watch.

The Lapwai Wildcats have made it to the State tournament every year since 2001 and won the championship in 2017. Led by sophomore Glory Sabotta, senior Kelani Smith and senior Raquel Domebo, Lapwai averages 63.8 points per game to lead the classification. Coach Eric Spencer is in his fifth season at Lapwai.
