Elk City News: ‘New’ fire truck ready to roll

ELK CITY — The Elk City Volunteer Fire Department, and the community, would like to thank Cottonwood Fire Department and IDL for the donation of a 6 by 6 truck to replace our old water tender that has multiple problems. The 10,000-gallon tank and pump system will be transferred to the “new” truck sometime soon. Jeff Maxwell, our fire chief, said that the new truck, “fits our needs just right.” Cottonwood Fire Department also donated turn-out gear. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The VFW Auxiliary is gearing up for the annual “cookie plate to veterans” event. They would appreciate donations of cookies, fruit, and other goodies to go on the plates that will be given to veterans living here in Elk City for the Christmas holidays. You can drop off donations on Dec. 18 and the plates will be created on the 19th and delivered shortly after that.

Thought you would enjoy the elk up on the hill north of town sharing breakfast with Tim’s horses. Their presence there just mocks the bow hunters who come up in this late season!
