Lowell/Syringa News

LOWELL / SYRINGA – In honor of my 40th year as a Free Press correspondent, here is a news column from March 1988:

Russell Andrews and Dee Pitcher went to Spokane for a reserve meeting last week. Their wives went along to keep them company.

Russell is heading out for a training trip next month to Okinawa, Japan. Dee will be shipping out to California about the same time,

Marty Smith flew back to Newhaven, Conn., over the weekend to take a look at Yale University. The football coach sent him a ticket for a recruiting visit.

Tracy Horstmeier has a birthday coming up this month, but she won’t tell anyone how old she is. It’s probably about 25!

If anyone likes to collect winter drops, deer, and elk horns, now is the time to get out there as our snow is just melting and I found a really nice set right outside my back door yesterday.

My older brother, Clint Engledow, has a birthday this week, March 8. I told him if he doesn’t call me once in a while, I would put his age and weight in the paper, so here it is. He’s 200 years old and weighs 45 pounds. I think that’s right?

Pete Parsell, where are you?
