WHITE BIRD — Good news. The hot weather has arrived. Bad news is the fires are still raging all over! No containment on the one up by Pollock, so that means that the fire camp is still at the rodeo arena, closing it to the public until further notice. We thank all the firefighters for all they are doing to help keep us safe!

Meetings coming up will be the WBARD one on the 13th at 7 p.m. The chamber will not be having one this month, but will resume in September.

Also, next week the Idaho County Fair begins on the 15th and runs through Saturday the 18th. There are all kinds of activities going on throughout the week, with the parade on the 18th. Come see what the community kids have been doing and help support them.

TidBits: Here are some words to ponder from John Painter:

Tell me where the roundup gathers,

Where’s the prairie of our fathers,

Where’s the trails we rode along,

Where’s the mustang, chaps, and saddle,

Where’s the cowboy and his song?

Where’s the old Dutch oven outfit,

Where’s the cowman and his lay,

Where’s the antelope - the white tail,

Where’s the old time faro play,

Where’s the frolics, circles, pastime,

Where’s the life of yesterday?
