Know Your Government conference 2019

Area students attended the Know Your Government conference in Boise Feb. 16-18.

A total of 175 Idaho 4-H members heard from the state’s top leaders during the Know Your Government Conference (KYG) in Boise Feb. 16-18 during the Presidents Day Holiday. The Idaho County 4-H Program sent seven delegates to the conference this year.

Second year delegates include Aidan Acton, Lively Livestock 4-H Club, the son of Willy and Suzanne Acton, Grangeville; Peyton Andrews, Valley Livestock 4-H Club, the daughter of Sean and Rachel Andrews, Kooskia; Whitney Andrews, Valley Livestock 4-H Club, daughter of Sean and Rachel Andrews, Kooskia; and Levi Stowell, Lively Livestock 4-H Club, son of David & Dori Stowell, Grangeville.

First year delegates include the following: Aliyah Pineda, Crazy Critter 4-H Club, daughter of Jeff & Tesse Pineda, Grangeville and Ashley Thompson of Clarkston, Wash.; Chloe Rowland, Cottonwood Saddliers & Livestock 4-H Club, daughter of Brent & Tara Rowland, Cottonwood; and Reenah Williams, Valley Livestock 4-H Club, daughter of Michael & Robleigh Williams, Kooskia.

4-H delegates learn about how government works in the executive, legislative and judicial branches receiving hands-on experiences.

Legislative delegates tour the capitol, attend legislative workshops, tour the statehouse, hold mock committee meetings, debate bills and watch legislators at work.
