GRANGEVILLE Six Grangeville girls will be competing this Saturday, June 3, for the title of the 2018 Distinguished Young Woman of the Camas Prairie. The event is set for 7 p.m. at Grangeville High School and this year’s theme is “Salute the Troops!”
Those participating will be Kyra Arnzen, Anastasia Bearden, Hannah Forsyth, Brenda Gomez, Kaycee Hodges and Olivia Kazella. All are Grangeville High School students just finishing their junior year of high school.
This scholarship program, formerly called Junior Miss, offers the opportunity to compete in scholastics, interview, talent, self-expression and physical fitness. The winner of the local program then goes on to compete in Idaho Falls this October for the title of DYW of Idaho.
“During the past four years, with the community’s generous support, DYW of the Camas Prairie has given out more than $10,000 in scholarships to our very deserving local young women,” said organizer Kim Johnson.
The evening will include guest entertainment, a bake sale to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network during intermission, and more.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students with all money raised going directly to the scholarship funds.
