USDA offers farm loans for underserved, beginning farmers

U.S. Department of Agriculture

Landowners in Idaho and Lewis counties are sought for participation in a program to implement cover crops that target soil health and water quality improvements.

Leading this regional conservation partnership program, “Camas Prairie Soil Health Enhancement,” are the Lewis Soil Conservation District, Idaho Soil and Water Conservation District and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Funds will be used to implement improvements.

Implementation is expected to start as soon as landowner plans and contracts can be developed, potentially by spring 2019.

To participate, contact the Lewis Soil Conservation District/NRCS, 521 Oak Street, Room 8, Nezperce, ID 83543, 208-937-2291 ext. 3; or Idaho Soil and Water Conservation District/NRCS, 102 S. Hall Street, Grangeville, ID 83530, 208-983-1046 ext. 3.
