KOOSKIA The Clearwater Valley volleyball team has a new head coach Rams fans will recognize both for her JV coaching and her accomplishments as an athlete. Mikel Sears, a 2011 alum, will be running the varsity this fall. She has a squad full of upperclassmen who already have significant experience.
Returning setter Mikaela Herrick is a junior who has “really had to step up throughout her high school career,” Sears said. “She has really had a lot of pressure since a young age and she is doing extra work for the team — like fundraising for camps.”
Senior Hannah Bandle hasn’t played as much in prior years but her “rate of improvement has been amazing,” Sears said. “She’s another workhorse who puts in all the time and helps with everything.”
Another player with “a lot to give and a lot to show” is senior Harmony Edmondson.”
“They’re trying to get a lot of work in, to be as prepared as possible,” Sears said. “There are always going to be tough teams.”
The Rams’ first home games are Aug. 29 against Kendrick and Grangeville.
