After three days of rodeo competition in the Idaho State Junior High School Finals in Pocatello, May 26-28, two Clearwater Valley junior high students qualified for the Silver State Invitational Rodeo to be held at the Winnemucca Events Center in Winnemucca, Nev., July 3-8.

Sixth grader Shada Edwards will be competing in girls’ breakaway roping after finishing seventh in Pocatello. Eighth grader Luke Olsen placed eighth in the boys’ breakaway roping to qualify.

The Silver State Invitational Rodeo is open to high school and junior high students throughout the United States, each competing in their own level — high school or junior high. At the conclusion of the five-day rodeo, awards and scholarships will be awarded.

Qualifiers all placed in the top 15 at their state final.
